I haven't install oracle in ME but I try to give you tips based on my experience.
First of all, you can't use the 200/NT CD to install on ME.The 98 CD could work( I'm not sure ).
Assuming the 98 CD works, then before the installation make sure you stop all oracle services and uninstall all previously installed oracle versions on your system. Then check through your root directory c\.. and completely remove any oracle subdirectory there.
You can then start the installation. When asked for oracle home just write c:\oracle81 and continue. This assumes that c:\ is your root dirctory and it is the partition where you want to install oracle.Otherwise, you have to write X:\Oracle81 where X is the partition you want to install oracle.
One last thing, if you have any database from other vendors running aready on your system, oracle wouldn't install.
