Sorry, I am not a Solaris or Unix expert at all - maybe my problem is trivial....
I'm trying to migrate a Designer Repository from 6.0 to 6i.
The source database is 8.0, running on a Sun Solaris machine, the target database 8.1.7 on
another Sun Solaris system. My workstation is NT.
The migration wizard needs a connection from the target database to the source database via
SQLNet. Here is my problem:
I can ping from the target machine to the source machine, using the machine name.
I can access the source database from my workstation.
The settings in the TNSNAMES.ORA on the target system seem to be correct, and I don't
receive a TNS error message. Instead, I receive ORA-01034 ORACLE not available trying to
access the source database from the target system ( using SQLPlus ), no matter what user I
use.
What might cause the problem? I have no more idea...
Thank you for your assistance!
